The Relationship Of The Disciple To The Divine, The Master, And The Self

Thinking over the relationship of the disciple to the Divine. the master, and the self.

Are we really the Divine? The separation is only the lint/mud that obscures our truth?  Gurudev and others are sign posts for us to find the truth of our self--our true nature?  The maturity of our truth as the Divine can create a withering away from the direct need of the sign post, but not the love and gratitude for the teachings of the sign post.  We eventually love ourself and others as the Divine without narcissistic tendencies (minus the ego), because we are one and the same.  The truth of this continues to be challenged by the lint from our history, but our uniqueness and interconnectedness is all we have.

I always feel like I am going before the Oracle when I ask Gurudev about these thoughts and questions.  No fear of getting it wrong, since wrong is always an opportunity for learning/clarification.  Just respect when those eyes are looking at you from the intensity of the soul level and beyond.  He listens, reflects, and then deeper wisdom than I could imagine comes out in words.  He spoke about his own path, beliefs, and experiences. His experience with these questions and how some still have no answers. The challenges of treading in the spiritual and material world simultaneously.  How he approaches teaching the variety of people who pass through the ashram doors.

The sharing of his (or her) path becomes a teaching--qualified by its' limits, since the teacher cannot speak for the individual's experience. He acknowledged that the basic steps I am outlining are not incorrect, but he always points you back to your own process. A wisdom and humility that comes when a person is truly unattached.

As I reflected on his words and where he placed the emphasis, it was back to the formless.  He brought up that place I experienced and he acknowledged it as true spirituality.  But, he qualified that there are responsibilities with living in a body, "That is fact."  I laugh, would my soul really be satisfied if he gave me a form as an answer when the soul is seeking freedom.  Now I really feel the different desire from the mind/ego and the soul.  Into the infinite is the only answer, so clever.  I see the winding down of the mental chatter.

Pranam to Gurudev for his priceless teachings. The spring of bliss is renewed.
