2nd Day Makalali

Early start to beat the heat. Little bit of a rough morning with one of the riders losing his balance in the canter, horse spooking and taking him through the thorn trees. It looked like something from the exorcist with blood pulsing out of his throat area. Luckily, Gertie could come with the jeep and take him to the doctors. More luck, only stitches required. We made our destination without anymore mishaps.

Afternoon in the jeep with a very knowledgeable tracker. Interesting to find out that his father was a tracker. He followed in his father's footsteps, but he got all of the licensing qualifications. He has been a professional for 14 years. One of the remarkable parts is how he drove this very long jeeps through and over whatever to get to the animal siting. That is almost as amazing as the animal viewing--only a video would do justice to the skill level. If there was a survival show that needed a tracker as a team player, I would be tracking him down. Leopard today!! Big score. Huge bonus to see a leopard and so beautiful!! We also saw three young male lions growing up together, a hyaena, and a cameleon blending in as a seed pod.
