Update from the first few days of the South Africa Adventure

Today was my first ride into the brush. What did I see: (starting with the mammals) Kudu, Bushbuck, Wildebeest, Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Giraffe, and Zebra. This isn't including all of the cool birds, insects, crocodile, frogs, etc. This is real animal tracking stuff. Up and down banks, water crossings, cross-country gallops, off trails...this is not for the faint of heart. The guests are hunt riders from England, so they have the adrenaline, go for it mindset. At one point, we were within 24 feet from a little bit angry hippo. Oh my gosh they are large! The horses were only nervous for a moment. The riders were more nervous. At another point, we were in a hand gallop down a road and scattered a pair of giraffes. Wow, to see them galloping along side of us--unbelievable!!!! All of these animals are so incredible. It is a real credit to the owners at Wait A Little, Phillip and Gerti, that they have created such well schooled, confident horses that you can ride "safely" in rugged terrain and in the presence of "real" wild animals. And the people at dressage shows fuss about someone moving around or making a sound... Another bonus to the amazing animals, the food is gourmet. No weight loss program on this trip! Next is taking photos from horseback.
