A sacred reminder from nature

I shouldn't be too surprised that giraffes come in so many different colors. There was a "black" giraffe that was lovely. There are a lot of babies right now, viewing a week old baby wildebeest. Starting to take in some of the bird population: eagles, owls, vultures, kingfishers, game hens, horned bill this and that, but of course, they all have a different look than what we are use to seeing. Viewed a tortoise trying to get off the road as the horses came galloping along. The trees and brush often have barbs and hooks that are very unforgiving, but everything is softened by the diversity of flowers and greenery in full swing right now. The horses really know their job. We ride off track quite a lot to follow lion, rhino, or elephant prints. They navigate the logs, banks, overhanging branches, intense spider webs, and rocky paths quite adeptly--not to mention the hand gallops (which are actually speeds beyond hand gallop) up, down, and around steep corners. This isn't for the faint of heart, but I am impressed by the rider's gusto!!

When is the last time you experienced open space with only the sounds of nature and the view of open land/mountains/sky? Nothing made by man. It is a shame that more people don't touch this, so they are reminded of the purity of mother nature and the gifts the earth has to offer without the influence of man. There are not really any wild places left: nature reserves are the reality.
