An electronic diary sharing my spiritual path through observations/experiences, photos, videos, articles and more. It started with intensity at the end of January 2011 when I decided to go to South Africa and see the truth of animals living in the wild. Unsatisfied with the answers, I went to India looking for the truth of humans in an ancient civilization. Packing up my life as a dressage trainer in Southern California, I moved to Jaipur, India to follow a spiritual inquiry.

Destiny vs. Taking Action
Still trying to understand destiny vs. the student's action required for responding to the Guru's lesson plan. Clarification from the Oracle. Yes, students do need to take action with what is taught. (For me, it is a respect for the teacher and desire to learn.) Yes, blessings can add enhancement to the lesson plan. Yes, destiny is involved regarding the individual's capacity for the work (ultimately the capacity for Absolute Love.) Yes, one can learn from everything ultimately (wind, sun, grass, animals, etc.)--even the Guru is always learning. Yes, part of inner peace is humility.

Universal Truth, Love, and Teachings
The depth of Absolute Love is limitless. The feeling is unlike any other and when I speak about it with others, we all tend to tear up and become emotional at touching the Divine Essence. Everything else experienced becomes secondary. The sense of internal fulfillment is indescribable--nothing bought, owned, tasted, touched, heard, seen can compare even though there are moments that are glimmers.
It was such a privilege to talk about this with Gurudev and a small group who have known Gurudev for over 10 years--one person even met Pahari Baba. Consciousness, Divine Love, Absolute Truth, the Guru's work, and more all sound normal to them. At least I can talk about it with "the group in the know" and not sound crazy. They even asked if I was writing it all down.
Gurudev was explaining that the Guru is like a clothes washer, ceramicist, painter, blacksmith, and more cleaning stains, shaping clay, painting, and bending iron to help us on our paths, but without breaking the fabric. Sometimes scrubbing hard, other times wringing out the fabric, banging on the metal, gently shaping the vessel as needed while we are moving through life.
The grace and privilege of meeting "your Guru" is unequivocally the most profound and life changing moment that one can experience. The context from which one operates will never be the same. The true Guru never asks for anything. All is offered out of the purest most Absolute Love that a humble human being can even remotely begin to understand.
Should I be surprised that this showed up in the Bowl of Saki after I wrote this blog. Divine Synchronicity!!!! Thank you for the affirmation as I try to consciously share my lessons through the limitations of words.

Love is the essence of all religion, mysticism and philosophy. Bowl of Saki, February 3, by Hazrat Inayat Khan | |
| Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan: Love is the practice of the moral of Suluk, the way of beneficence. The lover's pleasure is in the pleasure of the beloved. The lover is satisfied when the beloved is fed. The lover is vain when the beloved is adorned. 'Who in life blesses the one who curses him? Who in life admires the one who hates him? Who in life proves faithful to the one who is faithless? No other than a lover.' And in the end the lover's self is lost from his vision and only the beloved's image, the desired vision, is before him for ever. Love is the essence of all religion, mysticism, and philosophy, and for the one who has learnt this, love fulfills the purpose of religion, ethics, and philosophy, and the lover is raised above all diversities of faiths and beliefs. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/V/V_24.htm For the Sufi there is one principle which is most essential to be remembered and that is consideration for human feeling. If one practices in his life this one principle he need not learn much more; he need not trouble about philosophy, he need not follow an old or a new religion, for this principle in itself is the essence of all religions. God is love, but where does God dwell? He abides in the heart of man. ~~~ "Sangatha I, Khawas", by Hazrat Inayat Khan (unpublished) | |

Walking Naked
| Kindness |
Walking naked. What happens when I stay with the Oneness that I have learned from the ashram? There is no male, female, young, old, dark, light--only a sense of excited peace. Gurudev did say that managing the ego would take work, so the idea that when one gets to India a magic wand is waved and all is bliss doesn't appear to apply--in at least my case. As I locked the outer door to start my incinerator/insanity walk, the consciousness for not separating needed to start working. A few hundred feet down the road was the first test. I told myself to stay naked and see what happens. Not pleasant, but I am still alive and not physically assaulted. I bounce back into the the excited bliss state, since that appears to be the baseline right now. I could even just lie down on the street and enjoy that zone completely too. Options--how cool!
Over and over the opportunities to not stay naked appear. It is interesting to observe my thoughts arise and then watch what category they want to fall into. While working with animals, I have prescribed to the method of giving the animal a choice before making a correction. Patience to hold the space, not have judgement, sit with an open heart, and see what decision is made and then allow or make a correction--over and over. Until the horse makes its' own clear decisions that fits with the scenario, he/she isn't truly trained. I can manipulate a horse to control it, but to me that isn't training of the highest level. (The training of a seeing-eye dog is a perfect example of consciousness training for animals.) Making a clear decision in a space of freedom is training. Does the passing man glance at you and then advert his eyes or does he mentally aaault you by staring and searching up and down your body as if you aren't even noticing? Does the child running towards you saying hello or even run past you--or does he/she start begging, chasing you, and not responding to the reply of no? (We have beggars at home too, but they don't run after you, because they would probably get in trouble for harassment.) When the auto rickshaw starts slowing down, is the driver going to park or pick up a different passenger--or start to insist that you need a taxi ride?
In my attempt to stay naked, I stayed with still alertness, no preconceiveds idea, or attachment to what was unfolding. It required going past the place where I would normally begin to react, create a veil, or pick up a weapon. There were times that I could blend back into the oneness and other times that I acted in some manner. When I went to act, I had to examine whether it was within my capacity. The game rules were changing. The point of separation was lengthening. I was told that it was okay to act, but my personal willingness to act was creating lint again. While I am in the incinerator, the teaching is how not to accumulate lint, play the game on the Earth, and keep my heart open.
Pretty awesome to return to peace at the switch of a thought form. The thought isn't to find bliss. The thought is to not switch out of peace where the space is filled with Absolute Love.
Next Veil
| A street in town |
I made it down the street and there were many opportunities to revert to the "out the door" zone. Back to the hyper vigilance of cutting more ego tentacles. I even found a spiritual veil today; sitting with the absence of Gurudev vs. the presence of Gurudev. His presence is so powerful that I see it creates a bit of laziness. Of course, it is amazing to get lost in that energy field and experience the depth of True Love in a way unlike any other.
3 timely Bowls of Saki:
| Sincerity is the jewel that forms in the shell of the heart. Bowl of Saki, January 28, by Hazrat Inayat Khan | |
| Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan: Very few realize what power sincerity carries. A false man, however physically strong he is or however great is his willpower, is kept down by his falsehood; it never allows him to rise. It eats into him because it is rust. Those who have done great things in life, in whatever walk of life it be, have done them by the power of truth, the power of sincerity. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/IV/IV_31.htm Sincerity is the principal thing in life. Youth is the age which is most attracted to superficiality. That is the reason why many youths adopt an artificial manner of thought, speech and action, which is very undesirable and does not benefit their life. It is important to inculcate sincerity in the character of the youth. To give a youth a love of sincerity is extremely useful, for the power of sincerity can work miracles. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/III/III_I_6.htm The more sincerity is developed, the greater share of truth you will have. And however much sincerity a person may have, there is always a gap to fill, for we live in the midst of falsehood, and we are always apt to be carried away by this world of falsehood. Therefore we must never think we are sincere enough, and we must always be on our guard against influences which may carry us away from that sincerity which is the bridge between ourselves and our ideal. No study, no meditation is more helpful than sincerity itself. ~~~ "Supplementary Papers, Classes for Mureeds I", by Hazrat Inayat Khan (unpublished) | |
| The heart is not living until it has experienced pain. Bowl of Saki, January 30, by Hazrat Inayat Khan | |
| Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan: Those who have avoided love in life from fear of its pain have lost more than the lover, who by losing himself gains all. The loveless first lose all, until at last their self is also snatched away from their hands. The warmth of the lover's atmosphere, the piercing effect of his voice, the appeal of his words, all come from the pain of his heart. The heart is not living until it has experienced pain. Man has not lived if he has lived and worked with his body and mind without heart. The soul is all light, but all darkness is caused by the death of the heart. Pain makes it alive. The same heart that was once full of bitterness, when purified by love becomes the source of all goodness. All deeds of kindness spring from it. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/V/V_22.htm A person who has never experienced pain cannot sympathize with those suffering pain. ... Sympathy is something more than love and affection, for it is the knowledge of a certain suffering which moves the living heart to sympathy. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/XIII/XIII_21.htm Suffering is always a blessing. If it is for higher ideas, for God, for an ideal, it takes a person at once to the highest heaven. If it is for lower ideas, for the ego, for pride, for possessions, it takes a person to the lowest depth of hell. But there, after much suffering, after a long, long time, he loses these ideas and is purified. That is why the Christian religion shows the symbol of the cross, of suffering. How high our ideal may be, how low our ideal may be, in the end each pain has its prize. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/VIII/VIII_2_7.htm If there were no pain, one would not have the experience of joy. It is pain which helps one to experience joy. Everything is distinguished by its opposite and the one who feels pain deeply is more capable of expressing joy. If there were no pain, life would be most uninteresting; for it is by pain that penetration takes place, and the sensation after pain is a deeper joy. Without pain the great musicians, athletes, discoverers, and thinkers would not have reached the stage they have arrived at in the world. If they had always experienced joy, they would not have touched the depths of life. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/VI/VI_17.htm | |
| The pleasures of life are blinding; it is love alone that clears the rust from the heart, the mirror of the soul. Bowl of Saki, January 31, by Hazrat Inayat Khan | |
| Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan: The heart of man, as the Sufis say, is a mirror. All that is reflected in this mirror is projected upon other mirrors. When man has doubt in his heart that doubt is reflected upon every heart with which he comes in contact. When he has faith that faith is reflected in every heart. Can there be a more interesting study and a greater wonder than to observe this keenly? from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/XIV/XIV_2_16.htm There must be no feeling of revenge, of unkindness, of bitterness against anyone in the heart. When such a feeling comes, one must say: this is rust coming into my heart. When all such feelings are cleared off the heart, it becomes like a mirror. A mirror without rust reflects all that is before it; then everything divine is reflected in the heart. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/VIII/VIII_1_14.htm The heart aflame becomes the torch on the path of the lover, which lightens his way that leads him to his destination. The pleasures of life are blinding, it is love alone that clears the rust from the heart, the mirror of the soul. from http://wahiduddin.net/mv2/V/V_22.htm | |
